Designs electronic and printed materials, exhibit elements, and/or illustrations for a variety of college publications, displays, and other media, as appropriate |
Job Responsibilities
15% - Prepare typesetting, artwork and layouts for approved requests |
15% - Insure approved requests meet the guidelines of College Communications |
15% - Conceptualizes, designs, and produces curriculum, training, and/or promotional materials such as flyers, ads, brochures, logos, office signage, exhibits, and/or displays using InDesign, Photo Shop, Illustrator and more. |
15% - Designs and produces camera-ready art including graphs, charts, clip art, posters, digitization of graphics, line-art, and/or photos |
15% - Creates electronically-designed page layouts and imports word processing files into page layouts, as appropriate to the position; may develop and produce web-based graphics, as requested |
5% - May supervise and/or lead student employees |
5% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. |
15% - Keep a log of incoming jobs, print requests, and schedule jobs. |
Expectations
Work directly with users from all departments in determining Print Shop needs and directions |
Make recommendations for Print Shop purchases and support the yearly college plan. |
Consults with policy makers to determine boundaries and priorities of new projects, and to discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions |
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel and work in a team environment, without close supervision |
Maintains adequate inventories for equipment |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience - Two years to five years of similar or related experience. |
Education - A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school. |
Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. |
Other Skills - Ability to analyze graphic and technical information and create interpretive illustrations. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to develop print and/or reproduction specifications. Ability to create and produce graphic materials using a range of media, methods, techniques, and equipment |
Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds). |
Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as dirty and noisy locations. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields. |
Wages/Other
The hourly rate for the Graphic Design Specialist position is $14.45 to $16.53.
