Summary Statement | The director of communication and planning provides campus leadership of campus communication and planning, events, community engagement initiatives, donor relations, strategic planning and serves in a liaison role for collegewide accreditation and grants. This position also develops and implements strategies to promote the College’s programs and services on campus and in the community to ensure student success. |
Nature and Scope | The incumbent reports to the vice president and campus director and works in collaboration with the Division for Institutional Effectiveness and Development on issues related to planning and accreditation. Reporting to this position are event staff and administrative support staff. This position supports the vice president and campus director in providing leadership and oversight of campus publications and messaging; media outreach and response; written communication; event planning, as well as supporting community engagement initiatives. This position also is responsible for executing the College and campus strategic planning processes and communicating collegewide accreditation information to the campus community. Typical internal contacts include vice presidents, College and campus administrators, department chairs, faculty, staff, and students. Typical external contacts include media; federal, state and local officials; donors, alumni, and business and community leaders. |
Principal Accountabilities | An incumbent may perform any combination of the below listed accountabilities: Communication: 2. Supports the vice president and campus director in creating and sustaining community relations. 3. Assists vice president and campus director with donor cultivations, relations, and friendraising activities. 4 Supports the vice president and campus director in providing oversight for campus marketing and public relations activities. Planning: 6. Serves on collegewide institutional accreditation committees to represent the campus in accreditation- related matters. 7. Serves as a liaison to the Office of the President in communicating accreditation information to the campus community Overall: 9. Represents the campus at local, statewide, and national meetings, conventions, and other gatherings. Participates in a wide variety of campus activities to ensure broad institutional perspective and understanding of the College’s mission, goals and objectives. 10. Performs other related duties as required. |
Knowledge Skills and Abilities | • Knowledge of project and event management. |
Minimum Qualifications | Master’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of relevant experience. Rev. 01/18/20 |
