Job description:
The Ric Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts (Edelman CCCA) at Rowan University welcomes applications from creative communicators to join Edelman CCCA September 1, 2022 as part of Rowan’s Catalysts for Sustainability cohort. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to public advocacy as well as research and/or creative expertise related to climate, biodiversity, and/or environmental justice. Ideal candidates will use their knowledge and skills to convey the magnitude, urgency, and impact of the climate and biodiversity crises to a wide audience that includes students, policy makers, industry leaders, change-makers, and the public at-large, with the intention of catalyzing change and accelerating action. In addition, they will demonstrate a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, recognizing the disproportionate impact of the climate and biodiversity crises on those less advantaged, less heard, and less protected. Along with contributing to the department, college, and university through service, the successful candidate will be instrumental to the wider Catalysts for Sustainability initiative.
Rowan University’s newly launched Catalysts for Sustainability program seeks to hire ten new faculty to develop, advance, and communicate solutions to humanity’s most pressing existential threats posed by the climate and biodiversity crises. The university-wide cohort will lead and collaborate across colleges, disciplines, and communities, catalyzing new initiatives in sustainability research, advocacy and education while leveraging existing strengths. This project builds upon Rowan University's strategic pillars (access, affordability, quality, and serving as an economic engine) and furthers our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Both the field and rank of this position are open. Faculty will have a tenure-track/tenured home in one or more of the Edelman CCCA's six departments, which include Art, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising, Radio, Television, & Film, and Writing Arts.
