JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Morbidity, Mortality and Demography (MOMA-D) Lab in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State is hiring a Part-Time Research Assistant to assist in the processing of biomarkers to study health disparities with emphasis in Latin American countries. The selected candidate will lead the data analysis of biomarker data derived from National Health Surveys collected in Latin America to study patterns of physiological dysregulation, stress and allostatic load.
The MOMA-D is housed at the Department of Human Development and Family Studies and is led by Dr. Alexis R. Santos. The work will build upon Dr. Santos’ work on population health to study disparities in allostatic load and the distribution of biomarkers within this measure across the population. During the appointment term, MOMA-D will serve as host for a Post-doctoral Scholar, two Research Assistants, and two Visiting Researchers. The Research Assistant is expected to support the work of the two visiting researchers to assure the successful completion of summer projects.
This is a part-time, temporary position from July 2022 until August 2022. The Research Assistant will work the equivalent of 20 hours per week for 6 weeks. Salary will be commensurate with experience and academic attainment. The candidate is expected to start working on July 5 and their appointment will last until August 15. Job Duties:
Familiarity with health surveys, Spanish and previous publications in Population Health journals is preferred.
Responsible for compiling, processing and analyzing the data following a data analysis plan.
Collaborate in the writing of a research article.
Requirements and qualifications:
Familiarity with population health, demography and health disparities scholarship is required.
Graduate training in Quantitative Methods, Sociology and Demography is expected.
