Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
A successful candidate will be expected to carry out biomedical research from experimental design to publication on the swine infectious diseases. The candidate will lead and participate in collaborative projects to understand host-pathogen interaction and characterization of the immunological target of specific RNA and DNA swine pathogens, using in vitro and in vivo models. While they will work with the principal investigator on overall lab goals, they are expected to work independently at the bench and to drive their project forward both experimentally and theoretically, inclusive of experimental design, bench work, analysis of data, and manuscript preparation. Working alongside the PI, they will serve as a mentor for graduate and undergraduate students, ensuring that lab personnel is reaching experimental and program goals. The position will also have some laboratory management duties inclusive of assisting with reagent preparation, laboratory inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining records regarding biological/chemical inventories, environmental health and safety compliance, and grant preparation.
