Summary of Position
The Office of Transitions & Community Living at Keene State College invites applications for Community Director’s. These full-time, 12-month live-in, benefited positions provide oversight for one or more residence halls, facilitate a well-rounded Community Living educational curriculum, and ensures the safety and well-being of all residents. This includes participating in the selection, training, and supervision of student staff (consisting of Community Assistants and Head Community Assistants) and establishing the groundwork for the departmental community development and programming model. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Community Living, the Community Director is a live-in member of the community and works a variable schedule including evenings, holidays, weekends and campus closures. Position start date is on/after 7/3/2023.

Community Director’s create meaningful opportunities for student growth and learning through programming, advising, participating in the on-call rotation, serving as a conduct hearing officer, being an active member of divisional and College committees, and is an integral component of Keene State College’s focus on advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
There is a renewed focus on building strong communities for our residential students. Community Directors now serve as team leads for our Community CARES initiative and serve as First Year Seminar Facilitators. This focus is intentional, student centered, and dynamic in meeting the ever changing needs of our students. The Community Directors are vital parts of the Office of Transitions & Community Living and the Division of Enrollment & Student Engagement at Keene State College.

Other minimum qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of recent and relevant post-bachelor’s professional live-in residence hall leadership experience.
Experience in the following areas:
• staff supervision
• creating, developing, and assessing educational and social programming for students
• residence hall facility administration
• demonstrated ability to interact with a wide variety of constituencies including students, families, faculty, and staff
• proficiency with Microsoft Office and current social media platforms
• proven written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field; post-Bachelor’s or Graduate level residence hall management; 2+ years of professional residence hall leadership experience; 1+ years of experience with professional staff live-in supervision; and demonstrated experience with Student Conduct. Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
Salary Information
Starting salary: $36,000, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off. These positions are part of the Keene State College Staff Association (KSCSA).

The Community Director is responsible for facilitating a well-rounded Community Living educational curriculum within their assigned area.

The Community Director is responsible for recruiting, selecting, training, evaluating, and supervising student staff (Community Assistants and Area Managers)
Duty/Responsibility
The Community Director is responsible for assisting with student academic and behavioral interventions, including Community Standards, leading a CARES team, facilitating a section of the First Year Seminar course, and Progress Reports.
• Serve as a Community Standards hearing officer
• Utilize Maxient software for documenting student conduct issues
• Serve as CARES Team Leader, including facilitation of weekly meetings to review CARES early intervention reports, delegate outreach tasks to team members, assist with outreach, follow up with students and other team members and colleagues as appropriate
• Assist with Transitions-related supports for students – utilize Navigate software
Duty/Responsibility
The Community Director is responsible for serving as a point person, resource, and support for students in crisis.
• Participate in On-Call Rotation
• Act as “first line” contact for crisis intervention
• Provide personal support and serves as a counseling resource for area staff and students
• Refer residents and student staff to Wellness Center and other campus professional services when needed
Duty/Responsibility
The Community Director is responsible for key strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of residents, staff, and guests.
• Oversee the occupancy management of the assigned area/building, including the coordination of check-ins, check-outs, fire, health, and safety inspections, emotional support animal processes, roster verification, room changes, room condition reports, and damage billing
• Serve as liaison with maintenance and custodial services, provide follow-up for maintenance requests as needed

The Community Director serves as an integral member of the Transitions & Community Living team and the greater Keene State College community.
• Participate in all required departmental, divisional, and campus-wide meetings
• Serve on departmental, divisional, and campus-wide committees as appropriate
