Summary

The Pharmacy Services Department is seeking an experienced business professional to support the Pharmacy Department.  This position reports to the Finance Manager of Pharmacy Administration. This position will be instrumental in developing processes, financial reporting, and creating controls around a growing field in Pharmacy and Finance, with a focus on inpatient pharmacy and back up to ambulatory care and high cost pharmacy.

Responsibilities*

• Monthly variance analysis of budget to actual financial results
• Create and produce monthly and ad hoc financial reports for Pharmacy and Michigan Medicine leadership
• Create annual budget for Pharmacy inpatient locations
• Act as the liaison between Pharmacy and largest drug supplier, keeping track of credits and verifying accuracy of invoices and quarterly statements 
• Assist/Lead the capital process for Pharmacy Department
• Lead internal controls process
• Assist/Lead the inventory valuation process at various inpatient locations
• Month-End Journal Entry responsibilities
• Create purchase orders for specific drugs when appropriate and monitor by patient accounts payable
• Recharge Rate analysis for the Research Pharmacy Team
• Other analysis and duties as assigned by the Finance Manager and/or the Associate Chief Operating Officer for the Pharmacy Department
• Back-up to Pharmacy Financial Analysts dedicated to Ambulatory Care and High Cost Pharmacy

Skills You Have

• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbal and written to internal and external constituents and apply a high degree of analytical, interpretive, and evaluative skills dealing with complex concepts, projects, etc.
• Solid knowledge, understanding, and experience in business, finance, or accounting
• Must be self-motivated with an ability to work well with teams
• Must have effective organizational skills and flexibility to meet deadlines
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
• Experience with analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions
• Strong presentation, analytical techniques, and computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office

Required Qualifications*

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• 5-8 years of experience in finance, accounting, audit and/or compliance, preferably in a University or Health Care environment
• Experience with spreadsheet applications and analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions

Desired Qualifications*

• Business, Accounting or Finance degree is preferred
• Experience working within Pharmacy is desirable, but not required
• Experience with Mpathways, Smartview, Finance BI, Hyperion, Tableau and Business Objects financial software systems

Work Locations

This position is eligible for remote and/or flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the hiring department. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment. This position will be mostly mobile for the foreseeable future.

Additional Information

This position may be filled at the Financial Analyst Intermediate level, depending on the candidate's job qualifications.
