Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of TRIO programs, the Coordinator of TRIO, Upward Bound is responsible for coordinating all activities and services related to a specific Upward Bound grant program. This position provides educational and college preparatory services to assist high school students with completing their secondary education and enrollment into a post-secondary institution.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Conducts academic needs assessments and develops student educational plans
- Coordinates special events, including college tours, field trips, educational and social issues workshops, and out-of-state trips
- Develops program and event publication
- Tracks academic progress of program participants
- Tracks program graduates as they progress through post-secondary education
- Engages in program recruitment
- Maintains accurate records for grant compliance
- Organizes annual, monthly, and weekly performance reports
- Hires, trains, and oversees on-call staff assisting in grant program delivery
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
- Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation, and creativity and service to the College
- Supports the mission, values, and goals and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Director of TRIO Programs

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) years of experience working with students from diverse background specifically low-income or first-generation
- Experience in program coordination and management
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in higher education, advising, counseling, social work, or related area
- TRIO grant experience
- Experience in advising and/or providing support services to students from diverse backgrounds, diverse cultures, and ethnic backgrounds
- Experience working with new student programs in a college or university setting
- Bilingual English/Spanish conversational ability
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of student characteristics and campus/college programs
- Skilled in communication and team building across all areas of the college
- Ability to prepare/present programs to groups from various backgrounds
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to use Online Student Records Management Systems such as Blumen
- Ability to work independently, follow established procedures and regulations, and use discretion and judgment
- Ability to multi-task and work under conditions of high stress and high volume during peak periods.
- Ability to work in a case management process environment
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse and urban
- Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied and unpredictable in scope and volume
- Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
