We invite you to join our team as a Coordinator supporting the Medical Postgrad Education Department. The GME Coordinator identifies need for, organizes, and carries out or manages the completion of all administrative aspects of GME programs: the marketing of the programs, the selection, recruitment, orientation, department coordination of payroll and benefits plans, scheduling, evaluation, certification, licensing, graduation, social functions, verifying, and documentation pertaining to trainees. Initiates and monitors institutional, program and trainee compliance with the accreditation agencies and other oversight agencies, including reporting to CMS, and with Scripps policies management.
This role will be responsible for onboarding visiting rotators from non-Scripps affiliate institutions who are looking to complete visiting rotations at Scripps Mercy Hospital. This position will be responsible for ensuring the incoming visiting rotators are completing all tasks several weeks in advance of the scheduled start date of the rotation.
Onboard multiple visiting rotators:
- 4th year medical students seeking to complete inpatient wards rotations (also known as sub-internships, 3-4 students per month)
- San Ysidro Health non-family medicine third-year medical students (several per year)
- San Ysidro Health's internal medicine program (18 residents)
- San Ysidro Health non-family medicine third-year medical students (several per year)
- Family Health Center of San Diego (family medicine program - 21 residents)
- Family Health Center of San Diego (psychiatry program - 16 residents)
- San Diego Sports Medicine program (up to 5 per year)
- UC San Diego Palliative Medicine Fellows (7 per year)
- Scripps Clinic/Green gastroenterology (GI) fellows (several per year)
- Scripps Clinic/Green hematology-oncology fellows (several per year)Monitor IRIS report for Medicare reimbursements
- Responsible for invoicing affiliate institutions
- Oversee the GME New Intern Orientation schedule for the Hillcrest campus.
- This position will be responsible for onboarding visiting medical students (osteopathic and allopathic) and visiting residents/fellows (osteopathic and allopathic)
- Work alongside colleagues to coordinator details for annual graduation dinner.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- Minimum two years' experience in graduate medical education or equivalent administrative experience in healthcare management.
- Organizational and office procedural skills to coordinate many work assignment responsibilities quickly and accurately with pressure of deadlines; to work with confidential material and to exercise sound judgment in protecting information.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply Scripps policies and procedures and to work within the Scripps system to accomplish the Department's goals and the Scripps mission.
- Moderate to advanced computer skills.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and professionally with persons not only within the Scripps system but with applicants to the programs, with personnel from state and national governing and oversight bodies, and with vendors.
- Represent the training programs at local, regional, and national meetings and other events.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills to document and report effectively and clearly. Analytical skills to provide accurate reports and recommendations.
- Abilities in sound decision-making, problem-solving, priority-setting, and supervising.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- Self-motived individual with the ability to contribute individually and as a part of a team.
- Two or four year college degree or equivalent administration skills in healthcare administration or graduate medical education.
